Born and raised on a family farm near Farmerville in rural Union Parish, north-central Louisiana. Eldest of five children. Full name George Truman Tucker, but always went by Truman (G. Truman Tucker). Attended Farmerville Elementary School and High School and graduated in 1943 from Louisiana Polytechnic Institute (now Louisiana Tech University), Ruston, Louisiana, with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Immediately went to work for The Boeing Company in Wichita, Kansas. Met Kathleen Klaus who also was working at Boeing. Married in Wichita in June, 1944; four children. Worked for Boeing, primarily in Flight Test, in Denver (1944-45), Wichita (1943-44, 1945-47, 1949-53, 1959-81) and Seattle (1947-49, 1953-59) for thirty-eight years, retiring in Wichita in 1981.

Two daughters and two sons survive (five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren)
