Mr. Joseph Sylvester (Joe) Roach, IV, age 72, of Rome passed away Monday, November 2, 2015 at his residence following an extended illness.

He was born in Rome, GA on December 4, 1942 a son of the late Joseph Sylvester Roach, III and Mary Lois Jones Roach. He had lived the greater part of his life in Rome where he was a member of the Oak Hill Church of Christ. Mr. Roach was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during theVietnam War. He was an electrician having been employed by Regency Electric. His hobbies included fishing and gardening.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Hendricks Alverson Roach on September 20, 2007 and by two brothers Daniel and David Roach.

Survivors include two daughters: Sherry Freeman, Aragon and Judy Neal, Rome; two sons: Joey Roach, White ,GA and Randy Roach, Cartersville; three step daughters: Edie Alverson, Anna Easterwood and Leigh Ann Alverson all of Rome; step son, Mikael Alverson, Rome; sixteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren; four sisters: Debbie McEver, Cave Spring, Gwen Anderson, Rome, Sandra Simms, Macon and Patti Hulsey, Rockmart; one brother, Otha Roach, Centre, AL.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.

In keeping with his wishes Mr. Roach will be cremated and no formal services are planned.
