Kelly Lynne Allen MD
AGE: 47 • Cherry Hill

On August 9, 2017, Kelly Lynne Allen passed away at Temple University Hospital after a short illness. Born in Camden and raised in Hammonton, Kelly graduated from Hammonton High School in 1988 where she was captain of the field hockey team and an all-star bowler. She went on to receive her bachelor's degree in 1992 from Rutgers University in New Brunswick and then attended Rutgers NJ Medical School, graduating in 1997.

She completed her residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation immediately after receiving her medical degree. She was so competent and reliable as a resident, that she was appointed chief resident for two out of the three years in the program-an extraordinary feat. She had a research interest in spinal cord injury and served as an expert independent medical examiner.

She dearly loved the Sunday gatherings in Hammonton where the family would gather around a feast that always contained pasta and "gravy". Her grandmother Susie held a special place in her heart. She also loved her grandfather Henry and the spectacular NJ blueberries and peaches that he and the family grew.

She savored the time with her family at the Jersey shore and loved the Philly sports teams, especially the Flyers. Kelly was a fixture on the sidelines at countless field hockey, soccer and ice hockey games. She served as a coach and the director of Mt. Laurel field hockey feeder program. She loved spending time in Ocean City, New Jersey, and Siesta Key, Florida.

Kelly is lovingly survived by her husband, Robert A. Allen, MD; her four children, Rachel, Sarah, Rebecca and Matthew; her mother, Mary Joan Wyatt; her sister, Sherry Scott and her husband, Kevin; her niece, Cassidy Scott and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dr. Herbert B. Allen and Laraine Allen.

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Thursday evening from 6:00 - 9:00 PM at the Healey Funeral Home, 9 White Horse Pike, Haddon Heights, NJ. There will be a viewing again on Friday morning after 10:00 AM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church (St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish), 226 French Street (corner of N. 3rd Street), Hammonton followed by Kelly's Funeral Mass beginning at 12:00 PM at the Church. Entombment after mass will be held at Greenmount Cemetery, Hammonton, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Jefferson via the website www.Jefferson.edu/giving and in memo state Dept of Physical Medicine & Rehab in memory of Kelly Allen.
