Bert was cremated and his ashes were buried on top of a hill on what was once his ranch in Union County New Mexico. Ranch is on N.M. State highway 120 south of Ute Creek. Between Ute Creek and Yates community. The post office for this area was once in Gladstone but now is a Roy address which is in Harding county. This area is sparsely populated and was his favorite place during his life. Bert spent his later years working as a mechanic for the City of Irving, Texas but always longed to get back to New Mexico.
