Better known as "Lil Joe" by family and friends, he attended the Wheatley Schools in Beggs, where he graduated with the Class of 1967. Charles then served his country honorably in the United States Army from 1969 until 1971.
Charles gave his life to Christ at an early age. He was a resident of Broadway Manor in Muskogee, Oklahoma for the last five years. While living there, he received several honors for Resident of the Month. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
After 68 years with us, Charles Edward Thompson answered the Master's call on Friday afternoon, July 28, 2017 from the Jack C. Montgomery Regional Veteran's Administration Medical Center in Muskogee. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Josilyn, and a brother, James Leroy "Pokey".
Those remaining to lament his passing; five brothers, Johnny [Kitty], Camarillo, California, Lenard [Regina] and Dwane, all of Beggs, Oklahoma, Timothy [Pam] and Dickey, all of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two sisters, Brenda Demry [Johnny] and Kathryn Colbert, all of Beggs, Oklahoma; one Aunt, Alva Loyce Williamson, Beggs, Oklahoma; and a caravan of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The final hour with Mr. Thompson will commence on Saturday, Aug 5, 2017 at 2PM in the most holy sanctuary of the First Baptist Church-South in Beggs, Oklahoma. Reverend Gregory Lewis, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in the Beggs City Cemetery.
