Ruben Barbosa age 80, died Saturday at home surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Mr. Barbosa made it known that Aida, the love of his life, was the most beautiful woman he had ever laid eyes on, and he would never have settled down had she not been so beautiful. He is survived by his loving wife, Aida, four children: Louanna, Annalou and husband Mark, Ruby, and Ruben Jr and wife Romanita. He also leaves behind four grandchildren, Evan and husband Tim, Dylan, Austin, and Ruben III.
Ruben was a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he earned several medals, including the Purple Heart. He grew up in Weslaco Texas, the son of Solomon and Lola Barbosa. As a child, he learned carpentry from his father, who built homes including his childhood home. After the death of his father when he was 17, he joined the Army where he began his 27-year career as an Airborne paratrooper and finished his career as an engineer at Fort Hood. Ruben retired from service but the discipline and patriotism he learned in the Army never left him, as friends and family will attest. In addition to his love and devotion to family, friends, and country, Ruben loved Whataburger, the Cowboys, gospel music, and singing and playing his guitar.
Above all, his life was spent in service to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He and Aida worked tirelessly to spread the love of God thru their ministry, helping the poor and needy. His great love was studying the Bible and writing lessons from his Bible studies. Since 1970 when he accepted Christ, he studied daily in preparation to share the gospel with everyone God placed in his path, making disciples, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Services will be held this 18__day__August_ at _830__am_ at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home, and he will be interred in a plot at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas.
