Charles Leroy Koontz age 87 of Republic died on Thursday April 14, 2016 at Ferry County Memorial Hospital in Republic. He was born January 21, 1929 in Blue Creek, WA to parents Elbert Lyle and Dorcus (Goss) Koontz. At the age of 14 he began logging brush pilings and this set the stage for his life of working in the woods as a logger and truck driver. Family was his main love but he also had a love for animals. Charles was a member of Holy Catholic Church and Veteran Miraculous Medal Association.

He is survived by his wife Sharon Marie Louise Koontz (Fischer), children Charlotte Rae Koontz and Carlene Yvonne Koontz and two grandchildren Trista Gregory and Austin Prine.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Gerald, Herb, Bryce, Loyd, Paul, Ray, Marge and Lois.

Rosary service will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 7:00 PM and Mass will be held on Wednesday April 20, 2016 11:00 AM both services will be at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Republic with Father Richard Semple, officiating.
Memorials may be made to House of Charity in Spokane.
