The funeral mass and veterans memorial was held for Joseph Francis Foley, 82, Tuesday, Jan. 23, 1990 at Our Mother of Sorrows Mausoleum in Reno, Nevada, with burial in the mausoleum there.

There will be a memorial service in Belle Plaine at a later date.

Foley died Wednesday, Jan. 17 [1990] of a heart attack at Fernley, Nevada.

He was born June 5, 1907 at Atalissa, Iowa.

Survivors include his wife, Anne, a daughter, Jo Ann Bryson, San Ramon, Calif.; three sisters, Ceclia Digney, Sister Corrine, both of Phoenix, Ariz.;Sister M. Therese, Belle Plaine, and three brothers, Jim, Ray and Matt Foley, all of Belle Plaine, also a number of nieces and nephews.

Foley attended St. Joseph's College, Kirkwood, Mo., and served in the Army during World War II, and was a member of the Jennings-Bradshaw American Legion in Belle Plaine. He also was a member of the Farmers Union.

He worked for the Civil Service Accounting Division, Washington D.D., for two years, farmed in the Walker, Iowa area for 20 years, then moved to Davenport and worked for 10 years at the U.S. Post Office, Rock Island, Ill., retiring in 1970.

Both he and his wife were active as Away direct distributors from 1964 until the present. He lived in Davenport 20 years and moved to Fernley, Nevada in 1987.
