Richard J. Heinzen, age 85, a life-long resident of Manitowoc, passed away Tuesday morning, August 15, 2017 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.

Richard was born on September 6, 1931 in Manitowoc, son of the late Herbert and Katherine (Holschbach) Heinzen. He attended local area schools in Manitowoc and graduated with the class of 1949 from Lincoln High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army from January 16, 1952 until his Honorable Discharge on January 16, 1954. Richard married the former Delores Kvitek on October 5, 1954 at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Two Rivers. She preceded him in death on December 2, 2009. He was employed as a supervisor at the Mirro Company for 43 years until his retirement. Richard enjoyed following all kinds of sports, and was also an avid fan of the Packers, Brewers, Bucks, Badgers, and local high school teams. He also enjoyed playing cards (especially with his wife Delores) and listening to polka music.

Richard is survived by his four children: Gary (Barbara) Heinzen, Waukesha; Terry Heinzen, Manitowoc; Bonnie (Robert) Keebler, Green Bay; Randy (Connie) Heinzen, Manitowoc; eleven grandchildren: Justin (Kristina) Heinzen; Adam Heinzen; Crystal Heinzen; Matthew Heinzen; Grant Keebler; Emily Keebler-Busick and her husband; Stephen Busick; Mitchell Keebler; Spencer Keebler; Derek Heinzen; Daniel Heinzen; David Heinzen; five great-grandchildren: Paityn; Brayden; Clovis; Brandyn; Hannah; one sister: Dolores Dvorachek, Manitowoc; one sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Lorraine (Harold) Krizizke, Two Rivers, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents: Herbert and Katherine Heinzen; his wife: Delores Heinzen; two sisters and three brothers-in-law: Mildred (Harry) Staszak; Florence (Mike) Staszak; Emil Dvorachek.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall, 1114 South 21st St., Manitowoc. Rev. Mark Mleziva will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial with entombment of his cremated remains to follow at Calvary Mausoleum.
