Guillermo M. (Bill) Cavazos, age 66, passed away August 13, 2017, in San Antonio, Texas. He was born July 23, 1951 in San Antonio, Texas to Guillermo (Bill) and Emma Dora Ondarza Cavazos.

As a child he played CYO baseball at St Gregory’s which started his love for Pro Baseball. He would sit on the front porch on hot summer nights with his best friend and listen to the Astros on the radio and ENTHUSIASTICALLY cheer them on! As he grew older, he was an avid Astros, Rangers and Cowboys fan his entire life. And let’s not forget how he loved to watch the Spurs. He also loved deep sea fishing and looked forward to hunting season with his brother and father. He graduated from Antonian College Preparatory High School for Boys and St. Mary’s University.

He never knew a stranger, he could converse with anyone and had many friends. He volunteered at his Church, helped build a playground for children and of course was there to help a friend at a moment’s notice. All who were loved by Bill, knew it, as he loved with his whole heart. He was known for his thoughtfulness; sending flowers, giving very thoughtful gifts or simply bringing Mexican sweet bread for a visit. He loved to read and discuss politics and Texas history.

He was preceded in death by his father, Guillermo.

Bill is survived by his mother, Emma Dora Ondarza Cavazos, sister, Betsy Homan, brother, Bob Cavazos, sister in law, Cyndi Cavazos, his two nieces; Katie Cavazos Mares, husband, Michael Mares and great nephew, Hawkins Mares, Christin Lutz, and husband Matt Lutz. Honorary Pallbearers: William Hasewinkle, Tim Hough, William Murillo, Edward Ondarza, and Gerard Renteria.
