son of John Henry and Margret (Herzog) Wittrig, was born in Noble, Iowa, Dec.21, 1905;died of a heart attack at Iowa City, Iowa, Mar. 25, 1985; aged 79 7. On July 11, 1928, he was married to Effie Wyse of Wayland, Iowa, who died on Dec. 5, 1978. On July 30, 1983, he was married to Juanita Mann, who survives. Also surviving are 2 sons (Donald James and Robert George), 2 daughters (Jean Marie-Mrs. Charles Spencer and Miriam Louise-Mrs. Delbert Roth), 4 stepsons (Raymond, Bruce, Carl and Phillip Mann), 9 grandchildren, 13 step grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, 14 step-great grandchildren, 4 sisters (Gladys-Mrs. Eugene Currier, Mrs. Margrete Gingrich, Grace-Mrs. Arthur Davison, and Francis-Mrs. John D. Hulme). He was preceded in death by one brother (Emerson) and one sister (Clarice).
Education: Grad. of Crawfordsville High School, Iowa, 1924.
He worked for various banks in Crawfordsville and Washington, Iowa., and Elkhart, Ind.
He was ordained to the ministry in 1938 and served congregation in Imlay City, Mich., Colorado Springs (Beth-El Mennonite, 1959 - 1962), and Thurman (1968 - 1970), Colo. He was a member of Prairie Street Mennonite church, Elkhart, Ind. Funeral services were held at Sugar Creek Mennonite Church, Wayland, Iowa, Mar. 23, in charge of Edmond Miller; interment in Sugar Creek Cemetery.
