Lyman Hall Scott Jr. eldest son of Lyman Hall Sr. and Ardis P. Scott, was born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, on June 10, 1946. He spent his youth growing up in the house on South Rodney where his mother still resides. Along with his brother, Lee G. Scott, and his sister, Lynn E. Thomas, they shared a wonderful childhood together.

After graduating from Helena High in 1965, Lyman attended school at Eastern Montana College and then on to Montana Electrical J.A.T.C. where he became a licensed journeyman electrician. After many years as an electrician, Lyman became a state electrical inspector. In addition, Lyman acquired a real estate license and became a licensed and board certified real estate appraiser.

In 1973, Lyman met and married Sylvia Bridges. From that 27-year union they were blessed with two wonderful sons, Gregory L. Scott, born in 1976 and Derek H. Scott, born in 1978. Lyman felt that the raising of his boys was the most incredible experience of his life and he loved them dearly.

After his divorce in 2000, Lyman journeyed to Phoenix, Ariz., where he began a new life. He made many friends while there, just as he did during his 50 years in Montana. He met and married Sheila Cartwright on May 19, 2006. They enjoyed many hours hiking trails in the Phoenix area. Lyman was hiking on Jan. 21, when he accidentally fell to his death.

Lyman was a strong believer in and member of organized labor. He held various union offices in his 29 years within the labor movement, which included the retail clerks, teamsters, electrical workers, labors and the cement, lime and gypsum workers unions.

Lyman was a kind and caring son, loving father and brother, and the uncle who always had a joke at hand. He had a keen sense of humor and was a loyal friend.

Lyman is preceded in death by his father Lyman Hall Scott Sr. Surviving him are his sons, Greg L. Scott (Michelle) of Helena and Derek H. Scott of Helena; his mother, Ardis P. Scott of Helena; his brother, Lee G. Scott (Patti) of Helena; his sister, Lynn E. Thomas of Boise, Idaho; his nieces and nephews, Matthew, Jessica and Jodi Thomas, Casey Biggers, Tyler and Kynslee Scott.

No funeral services will be held at this time.

Lyman's life will be honored on June 10, 2008, which would have marked his 62nd birthday.

"That which we have once enjoyed can never be lost. All that we love becomes part of us". Journey on, Lyman. We love you.
