Gilma was born in Bagley, June 21, 1930, to parents Grace and Gilmen Prestemon. Gilmen passed away a few months before Gilma was born. Grace and Gilma Joy lived in Clearbrook from 1935 to 1939 where Grace was the local telephone operator for Garden Valley Telephone Co. They lived in Bagley for a few years before moving to Minneapolis where Gilma Joy resided until her death. She was confirmed in the Lutheran Faith, graduated from Central High School and then received her degree in Nursing from St. Barnabas in Minneapolis. Nursing was her career until she retired as head nurse at Metropolitan Medical Center in 1989.
Survivors include her cousins, and other relative and friends in the Minneapolis and Clearbrook/Leonard area.
Reviewal and visitation was held Friday, November 30 at Werness Funeral Home, Minneapolis, with Pastor Alan Naumann officiating.
Burial was Saturday, December 8, at the Bagley City Cemetery, Pastor Larry Dorman officiating the committal.
Eulogies were given by Margaret and Bob McReynolds. Pallbearers were Bill Krueger, George McReynolds, Bob McReynolds, and Lee McReynolds.
