Sister Mary Louise Andrews, M.M., who served in Nicaragua for 10 years, died June 30 at Maryknoll Sisters Center in Maryknoll. She was 89.
Sister Mary Louise served in parish ministry in Somotillo, Nicaragua, 1988-1998. She was the coordinator of a new senior unit at Maryknoll, 1971-1979, and also served in New Hartford, California, the Marshall Islands and Tanzania.
Born in Utica, she entered the Maryknoll Sisters in 1949 and professed final vows in 1955.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from St. Elizabeth Hospital School of Nursing in Utica.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated July 6 in the main chapel at Maryknoll Sisters Center, followed by burial in the sisters’ cemetery.
