88, a resident of Coventry for 60 years, passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2017. He was the husband of Helen (Bucikowski) Tognetti for 63 years. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Antonio and Marie (Beaulieu) Tognetti.
Eugene was employed in sales and delivery at Standard Uniform for over 20 years before retiring.
He was a Staff Sergeant in the US Air Force during the Korean War. Eugene and Helen, both serving in the Air Force at the Pentagon in Washington D.C. marched in the Inaugural Parade for President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1953. Eugene belonged to the Knights of Columbus Msgr. Blessing Council. Eugene enjoyed singing, dancing and golfing.
He was the father of Gina M. Tognetti, Lisa A. Costello and husband Kevin, Vincent Tognetti and wife Susan Bonafedes, and Dana O'Hara and husband Paul. He was the grandfather of Marissa Hunt-Pomeroy, Kayla Hunt, Christopher, Ryan and Jenna O'Hara, Samantha Fullerton, Matthew, Andrew, and Lucia Tognetti; and great-grandfather of Augustus Pomeroy. Eugene was the brother of Sister Marie Antonia R.S.M., Theresa Hough, and the late Adrian Tognetti, Beatrice Cady and Lonni Gagliano.
His Funeral will be Friday, August 25, 2017 at 9:00 am from the IANNOTTI Funeral Home, 415 Washington St., (Rte.117) Coventry, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Saints John & Paul Church. Interment with military honors in the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Visiting hours Thursday 4 - 7 pm.
