Betty Sue Parnell

Mrs. Betty Sue Lemming Parnell, age 80, of Rome, passed away on Tuesday, August 22, 2017, at her residence.
Mrs. Parnell was born in Rome, Georgia on May 8, 1937, daughter of the late Clifford Lee Lemming and the late Lucy Viola Beam Lemming. She was also preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers. Mrs. Parnell was a certified cosmetologist and later worked as a counselor and mental health technician for Windwood and later Floyd Behavioral Health. She was a member of Al Anon, and the Etowah Chapter of the O.E.S. and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her husband, James G. “Jim” Parnell, to whom she was married on November 24, 1967; two daughters, Judy Harrison and her husband, Steve, Rome, and Susan Kathleen Vincent and her husband, Michael, Trussville, AL; three grandchildren, Mary Kathryn Pitner and her husband, Matt, Alpharetta, Elliott Harrison and his wife, Kelly, Cartersville, and Olivia Kathleen Vincent, Trussville; a great granddaughter, Emma Gray Pitner; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 24, 2017, at 2pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with Dr. Larry Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Floyd Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Wednesday from 5 until 7pm. At other hours, they will be at their respective residences.
Pallbearers are asked to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Thursday at 1:30pm and include: Elliott Harrison, Matt Pitner, Larry Lemming, Dennis Lemming, Gary Stiles and Jerry Spradley.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.
