Laurel Diane McNeil passed away peacefully during a dialysis treatment at Highland Hospital on Tuesday, August 22, 2017. Laurel was one of four children born to the late Lynn Edgar and Harriet Mae Pinkney Scott on August 19, 1942 in Warsaw. Laurel was a 1960 graduate of Warsaw High School. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse graduating from Morrisville ATI in March, 1963 and receiving her license in 1964.
Laurel had resided in Batavia for the over last 40 years. Laurel had enjoyed ceramics and crafting and was always making items to give to family and friends. She had a wide circle of friends and family and enjoyed them all.
Besides her parents, Laurel was predeceased by her sister, Janet Ellen Davies, who died August 21, 1983; her husband, Richard H. McNeil, Jr. who died April 10, 1985; brother-in-law, Henry "Hank" Taft, who died July 3, 2010; and brother-in-law, Gary Davies, who died July 28, 1986.
Laurel is survived by her twin sister, Carol Joanne Taft of Ontario, New York; sister and brother-in-law, Nancy Beth and Peter Byrnes of Sun City Center, Florida; 9 nieces and nephews; and survived by many cousins and friends.
As per her wishes, Laurel was cremated. There will be no calling hours or funeral service at this time.
At a later date, the family will hold a memorial service to celebrate Laurel's life. When arranged, the date and time will published. Laurel was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Laurel's name to Volunteers for Animals, 3841 West Main Street Road, Batavia, New York 14020.

As per her request, Laurel's ashes are buried with her twin sister, Carol Scott Taft.
