Lucille was born on May 9, 1930 in Wickliffe, Kentucky, the daughter of Arthur H. and Mary Bettie (Sams) Lee. She married Raymond Hughes on February 8, 1947, in Hernando, Mississippi.
She was a long time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cairo, where she was an active member of the Altar Guild and Lutheran Ladies Auxiliary. She was formerly employed by M. Snowers and Co. in Cairo.
Lucille is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Raymond Eugene and Leslie Hughes of Lexington, Kentucky; granddaughter, Jennifer Hughes of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina; grandson, Jeffrey Hughes of Westerly, Rhode Island; brother, Henry (Louella) Lee of Auburndale, Florida; many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and four brothers.
Funeral service for Lucille Hughes will be held at 11:30am, Friday, August 25, 2017 at Crain Funeral Home in Cairo with Rev. James Muriuki officiating. Interment will follow at Mound City National Cemetery in Mound City. Visitation will be from 10:30am until the time of service at the funeral home.
