Sturr, Margaret Elizabeth

Died peacefully on February 15, 2008, at Alexian Village of Milwaukee. She was born on September 14, 1912 in Cass County, Michigan. Her parents were Abram Whitan Sturr and Winifred (nee Church) Sturr. She grew up on a farm in Cass County except for two years in Daytona Beach, FL. Her family moved to Sturgis, MI where Margaret graduated from high school. She then completed her undergraduate work at Western Michigan College in Kalamazoo and earned a masters degree from the University of Michigan. She also studied at Northwestern and the University of Maine. She had a Fulbright Grant and taught one year in a Japanese junior high school. Margaret taught for thirteen years in various schools in Michigan before coming to Shorewood High School in Milwaukee in 1945. She retired from teaching in 1962 (sic) and then sold real estate for ten years. She has lived at Alexian Village since 1984. Her parents and two brothers preceded her in death. She is survived by two loving nieces and her nephew's wife. Donations should be made to your favorite charity. There will be a memorial service in the chapel at Alexian Village to be announced in the near future. Margaret's body was donated to Wisconsin Medical College for research.
