Bobbie Jo Parsons passed away on Friday, February 13, 2015, at the age of 70,in Birmingham, Alabama.

Bobbie Jo was born to Lurleen and George Wallace on October 15, 1944.

Bobbie grew up in Clayton, Alabama where she graduated from Clayton High School. Bobbie joined her parents in Montgomery when her father was elected Governor in 1962 before attending The University of Alabama where she majored in Home Economics. The University is also where she met Jim Parsons; Bobbie and Jim married February 22, 1964.Bobbie and Jim made their home in Birmingham where they raised their two sons, Jimbo and Jason. Bobbie led a wonderful life that included horseback riding, quilting, hunting in Africa, South America, Alaska, Canada and many hunting sites in the USA. In recent years Bobbie accomplished her quest to visit all seven continents traveling with her son Jimbo. She even went skydiving in Australia.

She always found time to volunteer, having given her support to the UAB School of Nursing Board of Visitors, where she served as Chair, Rainbow Omega, Crisis Center, Shelby County Humane Society, and Cavalier Rescue of Alabama.

Bobbie was predeceased by her parents, Governors Lurleen and George Wallace, her grandparents:

Mother's side: Janie Estelle(Memorial# 63416575)and Henry Morgan Burns(Memorial# 63416505);

Father's side: and Mozelle(Memorial# 101808057)and George Wallace(Memorial# 27682837).

Bobbie is survived by her husband of 51 years, James Thomas (Jim) Parsons; her sons, James Corley (Jimbo), and Jason Thomas; her daughter-in-law, Kim, and grandchildren Cline and Whit; sister, Lee Dye (Hugh), brother, George Wallace Jr. (Elizabeth), sister, Peggy Kennedy (Mark), sister-in-law, Vivian Gregory, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She is also survived by numerous cousins and many loving friends.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that any donations be made to the Governors Lurleen and George Wallace Scholarship Fund at the UAB School of Nursing, 1720 2nd Avenue South, Birmingham, Alabama 35294, or to the charity of your choice.

Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Asbury United Methodist Church with a memorial service to follow at 2:00 p.m, Rev. Greg Faust officiating. Asbury United Methodist Church, 6690 Cahaba Valley Road, Birmingham, Alabama 35242.
