The eldest and only surviving daughter of Johann Julius Schmidt and Juliane Henriette Schmidt nee Bubolz, Anna was born in Callies, Kreis Dramburg, Pommern (Pomerainia), Prussia. In 1891 she married Carl Friedrich Lehmann (b. 1862 in Brallentin, Kreis Pyritz, Pommern, Prussia) in Callies, which by that time had become Kallies, Kreis Dramburg, Germany.
The couple first lived in Mentin in the province of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, where Carl was a distiller, remaining there for several years. Their three sons (Wilhelm Emil, b. 1893, Karl Hermann, b. 1894 and Otto Alfred, b. 1896) were born there. A daughter, Helene Marie Auguste, was born in Dambeck, Mecklenburg-Schwering in 1898.
Anna's three surviving brothers Emil, Robert and George all emigrated to Minnesota, but Anna and her family remained in Germany, eventually moving back to a small community (Kietz)near Kallies and taking up farming. Anna' son Otto died in Kallies in 1922 at age 26; Anna died in Kietz in 1932 at age 69 and presumably buried either there or (more likely) in Kallies, which is now Kalisz-Pomorski, Poland.
