AUGUSTA, Ga. - On September 9, 2008, John Orville Lamb's wife of 52 years, Mrs. Ernestine Lamb, came back to lead him to heaven. He was 81 years old. The memorial service will be conducted on Sunday, December 14, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. at Freedom Park on Fort Gordon. Mr. Lamb was cremated and burial will be a private service at a later date. Flowers should be delivered to Freedom Park between 3:00 and 4:00 p.m. on Sunday. Mr. Lamb is survived his daughters, Janice Lee Lamb, Joanie Lamb of Joanie Lamb Hair Salon; his son, John W. Lamb. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ernestine Lamb in 2006; his parents, Orville and Anna Nunn Lamb; his brother, Thomas Lamb. Mr. Lamb was a veteran of the United States Army and the Merchant Marines. He served during WWII, the Korean Conflict, and Vietnam. Mr. Lamb enjoyed making bird houses and eating soup.
