Actor, Television Presenter, and Television Personality. He was best known for his long serving role in the children's program Blue Peter in the 1960s and 1970s. Out of all the presenters of the program he served the longest spanning 12 years 6 months. He took on the role of action man in the series and the highlights include free fall parachuting, bobsledding, and climbing up Nelsons Column, also taking on the role with pets, and his well known side-kick was a boarder Collie named Shep. He also presented Go with Noakes, a television show in which he traveled round the country doing diverse activities such as, motorcycling, aerobatics and painting. The program run for six series and 31 episode finishing on the 21st of December 1980. John left Blue Peter on the 26th of June 1978 and was allowed to keep his side kick Shep as a present. On 30 June 2015, Noakes was reported missing from his home in Andratx, Majorca: he had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease some years before. He was found the same day, close to his home, having fallen into a storm drain. He later died at the at the age of 83 at the Son Espases Hospital in Palma.
