Adalyn Brya Killingbeck, known to all who know & love her as "Addy," was at home surrounded by loved ones when she peacefully gained her angel wings and went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, August 29, 2017. Addy, age 5, was a strong and mighty warrior who touched many hearts and lives worldwide during her short seven month battle with an inoperable brainstem tumor, Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG). The daughter of Bryan & Jessica, our "Sweet Sweet" Addy Bear was born on March 2, 2012 at Riverside Regional Medical Center. Addy was a beautiful little Daddy's girl with the longest eyelashes whose laughter and smile would melt your heart. Addy was often seen sucking her thumb and holding her security blanket "Taggie." Some of her favorite things included her sister, her dog, the beach, her home, the cottage on Lake Ontario, horses, Minions (especially Bob), Princess Merida and Princess Anna, both of which she got to meet on her wish trip to Disney World in April. She loved working puzzles and her favorite meals were from Hot Dog King and Chipotle. She adored her Ladybug class and her preschool and recently insisted that Mrs. Bennett would always be her teacher for preschool and beyond. Addy put up a fierce fight against DIPG and she won. Cancer died with her body and she now lives in a brand new perfect body with Jesus. Addy is survived by her parents, Bryan & Jessica of Newport News; her big sister, Sadie; her dog, Turbo; maternal grandparents, "Pops & Mommles" Charles K. & Beverly of Newport News; paternal grandparents "Nanna" Catherine of Watertown, NY and "Grandpa" Bradley of Beaver Falls, NY; "Uncle Taylor" & "T-Val" Aunt Valerie, along with cousins Kenley and Emerson "Emmy" of Pocomoke City, MD; and Aunt Lauren with cousin Nathan of Liverpool, NY, and maternal great grandfather, "Big Granddaddy" Gordon and wife Betty along with a host of many other extended family members and special friends who love her. Addy was preceded in death by maternal great grandparents Darlene Owsley, Ernest & Dreama Reynolds, and paternal great grandparents Glenn & Marion Killingbeck, and Francis Sr. & Berenice Murphy. A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 3, 2017 from 2-4:30 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home. A celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. at Coastal Community Church with Pastor Shaun Brown officiating. A graveside service will follow at Peninsula Memorial Park. The family requests that Addy's favorite colors GREEN or BLUE be worn to her service, or Addy's Army t-shirts if you have one are also loved and welcome! The family would like to thank Addy's primary care team: Dr. Raven, Dr. Linda, Dr. Allan, and nurses Teresa & Alicia, along with the staff of the Cancer and Blood Disorder Center at Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters, the staff of EDMARC Hospice for Children, and the staff of Hampton University Proton Therapy Institute. The compassionate care you gave to our Addy and to us as a family through this process was truly remarkable. We also wish to thank the staff of Chestnut Memorial Preschool for your unwavering love and support for Addy and Sadie; and many thanks to "Addy's Army" of supporters far and wide who love her and have followed her story. Donations in memory of Addy can be made to EDMARC Hospice for Children who cared for Addy over the course of her illness, Toby's Dream Foundation who made Addy's wish trip to Disney World possible, ROC SOLID Foundation who built Addy a swing set in her back yard, or Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters' Cancer and Blood Disorder Center. Arrangements by Peninsula Funeral Home.
