MRS. FANNIE PERRY OF MERTENS BURIED THERE Wednesday
Mrs. FannIe Perry, aged 64 years, died at her home in Mertens Tuesday. Funeral services were held from the Mertens Baptist church Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Burial was in the Richland (Mertens) cemetery. The rites were conducted by Rev. Charles Cockrell.
A native of Alabama, Mrs. Perry had resided in tho Mertens area for the past 33 years. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Sula Hasten, Italy; Mrs. Tera Simmons, Mrs. Eula Holllngsworth; three sons, W. R., E.L. and E. C. Perry, all of Mertens; 26 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; a brother, J. B. Browning, and a sister, Mrs. Sudie Whittle, both of Alabama. Corley Funeral Home directed arrangements.

Mrs. M.I. Perry died last week (11-4-1941) in Mertens at the home of her son Lee [sic - should be Earnest) Perry. During the funeral she was praised for being a good and kindly Christian woman, who nev'r uttered an unkind word about anyone. She was much beloved by family and friends.
Mourners filled the Mertens Baptist Church for her funeral. A long line of cars followed the hearse that carried her to her final resting place in the Richland Cemetery where she was layed to rest beside her her late husband, who died in 1932.
A native of Calhoun County, Ala., she had called Texas home for more than 40 years. She will be sadly missed by her children, grandchildren and a host of loving neighbors and other relatives.
