Harvey C. Maurer, age 66, a resident of Saint Nazianz, died on Friday, November 7, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family after a three year battle with cancer.

Harv was born on December 11, 1947 in Sheboygan, son of the late Harvey J. and Irene (Schwartz) Maurer. He attended Valders High School. On June 3, 1967 he married the former Carolyn Stedl at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kellnersville, WI. Harv was a lifetime member of the St. Nazianz community. He was a Sheriff's Deputy with Manitowoc County Sheriff's Department for over 30 years and also served as the St. Nazianz Chief of Police. Harv also was a past member of the St. Nazianz Fire Department and the First Responders. He was a member of the Ant Hill Mob motorcycle club and enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson. Harv liked to work on his Pontiac Star Chief and getting it back into running order. He was also a Chief Ranger for the Catholic Order of Foresters. Harv enjoyed watching sports, especially the Packers, Badgers and Brewers. He was very proud of his three children and daughter-in-law. Harv enjoyed spending time with his three grandchildren and the rest of his family up north at the cabin.

Survivors include his wife: Carolyn, of St. Nazianz; and their children: Jeff "Chief" Maurer, St. Nazianz, Jon (Ann) Maurer, Glendale, and Debbie Maurer, Kiel; three grandchildren: Blake, Emma and Jill Maurer; two brothers-in-law: Walter "Buddy" Stedl, Menchalville, William (Irene) Stedl, Silver City, NM; two sisters-in-law: Charlotte (Ron) Milton, Eldorado, WI, Judy (Jack) Kotche, Manitowoc. Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was also preceded in death by two brothers: Robert and Greg Maurer; one brother-in-law: James Stedl; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law: Dolores and Walter Stedl.

Cremation has taken place at All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc, and Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 13, 2014 at St. Gregory's Catholic Church, St. Nazianz. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Patrick Nelson. Burial of Harv's cremated remains will take place following the service at the St. Gregory Catholic Cemetery.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Thursday, November 13, 2014 at St. Gregory's Catholic Church, St. Nazianz, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:45 p.m.

In lieu of flowers the family wishes that donations be made in Harv's name to the Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic.
