Cleta Mae Payne, 79, of Clay City, died at 12:05 p.m. Wednesday, October 29, 2003, at her home.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Clay City Christian Church. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church with Minister Ron Payne and Minister Carson Root officiating. Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Clay City is in charge of services. Burial will be in Clay City Cemetery.

Mrs. Payne was born on September 19, 1924, in Shidler, Okla., the daughter of Dennis T. and Edna Pearl (Doggett) Miller. She married Glenn Curtis Payne on March 21, 1946, in Olney. He preceded her in death on September 21, 1992.

She was a homemaker and a member of Clay City Christian Church and Clay City Garden Club #7.

Mrs. Payne is survived by a son, Ron Payne and his wife, Shirley, of Ingraham; a daughter, Mary K. Davis and her husband, Terry, of Lincoln; three sisters, Betty Duff, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Juanita Miller and Edna Sue Clark, both of Clay City; five grandchildren, Matthew Payne, of Tigard, Ore., Becky Payne, of Washington, Abbey Breneman, of Burlington, Iowa, Brandon Davis, of Lincoln, and Emily Davis, of Lincoln; and five great-grandchildren, Kyle Payne, of Portland, Ore., Ally Payne, of Portland, Ore., and Cassidy, Joel and Marissa Breneman, of Burlington, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Memorials may be made to Clay City Christian Church or Ingraham Christian Church.
