Sharen was preceded in death by her parents - Lyman and Berniece Moyle, her Brother - Douglas, and her Sister - Mela. She was born Jan 10, 1942 in the American Fork Hospital and lived her younger years in Alpine, Utah where her father was a respected farmer and served as the local LDS Bishop. Her family eventually moved to Philomath, Oregon, a small community near Corvallis, Oregon, the Home of Oregon State University. Her father was a mink rancher and Sharen attended High School in Corvallis where she was actively involved and respected. She served in student government and had an opportunity to be a cheerleader for a year. Sharen met her husband, Robert B. Johnson (Bob) when they were both attending OSU and they were married June 4, 1962. Life gave them many opportunities: various states and countries to live in, opportunities for travel and exploring a variety of belief systems. Sharen and Bob had six children: Mark, Jody, Stephen, Larissa, Amy, and David, and also 4 grandchildren - Sophia, Austin, Oliver, and Elliot. Their family lived in Northern California, Utah, and Houston, Texas as the children were growing up and moving on in their individual lives.
Sharen lived an independent life and loved to travel. She had an opportunity, just out of High school, to travel with her best friend, Janet Henderson (Gambee) family. They lived in Bangkok, Thailand, traveled and hitchhiked through the middle east and Europe, and spent a winter living with a Swiss family and skiing every day in Gstaad, Switzerland before returning to Corvallis to begin their college journey.
With her six children, Sharen was a stay at home mom for a number of years and then completed certification to become a Drug and Alcohol Counselor and worked for several years in a residential Drug and Alcohol Treatment Facility. When the family moved to Utah, she served as a significant person with the Utah Housing Authority. She has always been a person who reached out to others and volunteered to assist special groups with language and also with inmates in the Utah State prison. She had the wonderful opportunity to be the full time Aba / Abuela (Grandmother) to her grandchildren, Sophia and Elliot, in the first years of their lives and it was probably the most valued part of her later life for Sharen. She was also actively involved in the lives of Austin and Oliver.
She is survived by her husband, 6 children and 4 grandchildren. Her family could tell she had chosen to move on in her life as she slowly just stopped breathing with a smile on her face
Sharen has donated her body to the University of Utah for research, as an organ donor and also as a potential cadaver for the Medical School. There will be no funeral but a headstone will be placed at the Alpine Cemetery and her family will eventually gather together there to celebrate her life and the contribution she has made in each of their lives before she chose to move on.
