Dale M. Beckwith, 89, of Fawn Twp., died at 6:50 p.m. Tuesday (Feb. 1, 2005) in Butler Memorial Hospital, after a brief illness. He was a patient two weeks. Born March 30, 1915, in West Tarentum, he lived in Fawn Twp. all his life. An Army veteran of World War II, he served in the 2nd Division, European Theatre Operations, and received 4 Bronze Stars and 1 Silver Star. Mr. Beckwith was an expeditor in the quality control department at Allegheny Ludlum in Brackenridge and Leechburg before retiring in 1977 after 41 years. He was a member of Center United Methodist Church, Fawn Twp., past president of the board of trustees, chairman of the administrative board and of pastor parish relations and budget committee. He also was a life member of Fawn Twp. Fire Co. No. 2 and served in several elected offices, Tarentum Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Pittsburgh Syria Temple and Allegheny Valley Fireman's Association of Western Pennsylvania. Mr. Beckwith enjoyed gardening, traveling and sports. Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Eleanor I. Wonderling Beckwith; a brother, Merle Beckwith of Fawn Twp.; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Milliard F. and Rosetta Porter Beckwith, and a sister, Roxie Spohn Weeks.

Relatives and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the DUSTER FUNERAL HOME, Tarentum, where services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday by his pastor, the Rev. James E. Gascoine.

Entombment will be in Mt. Airy Mausoleum, Natrona Heights.

Tarentum Masons will meet at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
