Septic poisoning resulted in the death of a former Two Rivers lady when Mrs. Jessie Abbott passed away last week at her home in Minot, North Dakota. Mrs. Abbott was formerly Miss Jessie Bartelle whose father, Nick Bartelle was superintendent of the Two Rivers Manufacturing Company's chair factor which occupied the present site of Aluminum Goods Plant No. 4. She was quite a young lady when the Bartelle family left the city about 35 years ago and well and favorable known here by practically everybody in the city which at that time had a population of about 2000. Mrs. Abbott was born in Sandusky, O., on Sept. 12, 1862 where she spent the first few years of her childhood. Later the Bartelles moved to Two Rivers and in 1891 Miss Jessie was married to U.G. Abbott. The Abbotts lived successfully at Fargo, Larimore, Rigby and latterly at Minot where they have resided for the past twenty-five years. Mr. Abbott is an engineer on the Great Northern Railroad.
On May 30, Mrs. Abbott accidentally scratched one of her fingers slightly but paid no attention to it until about two weeks later when an infection set in. Despite treatment the finger grew worse and about two weeks ago she was taken to a hospital where everything was tried to save her life, but the patient died on Monday evening of last week. She is survived by her husband and five children, Mrs. William Stevens of Edmore, North Dakota, Dr. V.R. Abbott, Albert F. Abott, Gordon A. Abbott and Raymond Frank Abbott, all of Minot. A brother, V.D. Bartelle of Toledo, O., and a sister, Mrs. Otto Busch of Ojal, Cal., also survive.
