William was born in Cumberworth, and baptised 27 December 1891 at St Nicholas Cumberworth. he was the son of Sam Biltcliffe and Martha nee Mosley.
He lived with his birth family in Cumberworth as a child and young man, and worked as a spinner in a woollen mill.
He married Lenora Maude, daughter of Thomas Maude,4 September 1815 at Christ Church, New Mill. One known child, Herbert 1916.
Later in his life William Henry became a farmer in Denby Dale, and he died there aged 62. He was buried 22 March 1954.
