Edward F. Groh Jr., 74, of 1323 Wisconsin Ave., New Holstein, went to rest on Monday, April 20, 2009, at Theda Clark Regional Medical Center in Neenah.
He was born on June 19, 1934, in St. Nazianz, a son of the late Edward Groh Sr. and Lorena Christel Groh. Edward was a 1952 graduate of Kiel High School where he was active in football, F.F.A., baseball and track. On Jan. 16, 1954, he married Betty Jane Gertrude Mathes at St. Gregory Catholic Church in St. Nazianz. Edward was employed as a logger most of his life and was also employed at Tecumseh Engine Products in New Holstein, Kohler Co. and Lake Ellen Stone in Cascade. Edward always had a great sense of humor and enjoyed spending time with the grandkids, playing cards with family and friends, cutting fire wood and most of all his special gift and love of horses.
Survivors include his wife: Betty Groh, New Holstein; his eight children: Steven Groh, New Holstein; Debra (John) Uelmen, Salem, Mo.; Christ (Dawn) Groh, Mayville; Terry (Barb) Groh, Elkhart Lake; Edward "Sparky" (Catherine) Groh, Kaukauna; Scott Groh, New Holstein; Traci (Mike) Reseburg, Kiel; and Kelly Schmitz, Fredonia; 24 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; his sisters-in-law: Marie Groh, St. Nazianz; and Betty Groh, Shawano; cousins; nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; a son: Mark Groh; a sister; 3 brothers and a nephew.
Funeral Services will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday April 24, 2009, at the Sippel Funeral Home, 2618 Altona Ave. New Holstein. The Rev. Wayne Bittner will officiate.
Family and friends may call at the Sippel Funeral Home in New Holstein on Friday afternoon from 3 p.m. until the time of services.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established in his name.
