Marcia P. Unterlander, age 87, a former Manitowoc resident, died Saturday, December 3, 2011 at River Oaks in Mequon, WI.

She was born on December 26, 1923 in Valders, daughter of the late Peter and Josephine (Burkard) Platten. Marcia was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School, class of 1941 and also attended two years of business college. On August 9, 1952 she married George L. Unterlander at St. Jerome Catholic Church, Chicago, Illinois. He preceded her in death on January 25, 2009. Marcia was employed at Chicago Northwestern Railroad Company as a comptroller, retiring in 1954. Marcia was a longtime member of the ACBL (American Contract Bridge League).

Survivors include a son: Peter Unterlander, Thiensville; a sister: Mary Ann Bowser, Austin Texas; and a sister-in-law: Betty Platten, St. Nazianz. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was also preceded in death by two brothers and a sister-in-law: Bill Platten, Arslem Platten and his wife, Olivia; a sister and brother-in-law: Winnie and Elmer Ehren; two sisters-in-law: Betty Sagmeister and her husband, Carl, Marie Schwemin and her husband George; and a brother-in-law: Roman Bowser.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Richard Klingeisen with burial at St. Gregory Cemetery. St. Nazianz.

The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand, Manitowoc, from 10 a.m., Wednesday, December 7, 2011, until 10:45 a.m.

The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
