Dywaine Buckle was born on November 12, 1937 at the Yorkton General Hospital, the son of Dennis and Willa (nee Thompson). He was the middle child in a family of five children. To his siblings, he was always referred to as "Tiny" and that name has stayed with him to this day. Dywaine grew up on the family dairy farm six miles south on #9 Highway. He attended Pebble Lake School and Grade 8 at Simpson School in Yorkton. At this time, Dywaine made a decision to go farming with his father Dennis and brother Daniel. As a young man Dywaine enjoyed being an avid bird watcher. He was an excellent muskrat trapper and also loved to fish when he could. Dywaine enjoyed sports, especially playing baseball. He was a good pitcher for his team in the district and there were plenty of opposing teams in the district to compete with. Later in his life, curling was his sport. His team participated in bonspiels in Rokeby, Waldron and Yorkton. Dywaine, along with his brother Danny, enjoyed watching and cheering on their nephew, Donny Chesney Jr., who played hockey with the Yorkton Terriers and Melville Millionaires. Dywaine met his soulmate, Marjorie, and the couple were married on October 19, 1957. They were both 19 years of age. They were blessed with three children, son, Dennis born in 1958, son, David born in 1959 and daughter, Deborah, born in 1968. Dywaine and Marjorie took over Grampa Dennis' dairy business and throughout the years expanded the business to a modern 60 plus dairy and grain farm. Dywaine and Marjorie took pride in their farm and to this day, the machine shed has clubs, diamonds, spades and hearts as ornaments for everyone to see driving by on #9 Highway - it is a classic sign post to everyone. Dywaine loved his Holstein cattle and his grain growing in the fields. In the fall of 2004, Dywaine and Marjorie decided to retire from the farm and settle down in Penticton, BC where some of the family were living. This retirement to BC lasted for 10 good years, however, Dywaine's health slowly began to deteriorate and the decision was made to come back to Yorkton to live comfortably at the retirement home at Fairview Arms. Dywaine died in the Regina General Hospital on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 1:03 pm due to complications from two major surgeries. He was predeceased by his father-in-law, Robert Annabelle Brock, his beloved brother, Daniel, sister-in-law, Avis, his father, Dennis and mother, Willa, mother-in-law, Marjorie Brock, brothers-in-law, Don Chesney and Ray McTavish, sister-in-law, Linda Brock, sister, Beverley Chesney, niece-in-law, Chantelle and great-nephew, Clinton. Dywaine leaves to mourn his passing of life on earth, his wife of 59 years, Marjorie Anne; sons, Dennis Robert (Angela Magdalena) of Chesterville, ON and David McKay (Sheila Mary) of Yorkton, SK; daughter, Deborah Anne (Darcy Dean) of Melville, SK; four grandchildren. Justin Caleb Buckle, Travis Dywaine Buckle, Daniel Earnest Buckle and Thomas Edward Buckle; sisters, Beryl Eleanor McTavish of Kelowna, BC and Boneta Beth (Desmond William Maxwell) of Penticton, BC; brother-in-law, James McKay Brock (Edna Emma Brock) of Melville, SK, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral Services were held on Thursday, September 14, 2017 from the Chapel of Christie's Funeral Home in Yorkton, SK with Reverend Luanne Hrywkiw officiating. Words of tribute and eulogy were shared by Don Chesney, a prayer was led by Reverend Ken Buchan and the readings were shared by Travis Buckle and Jim Brock. Special taped music selections included "I Left My Heart in San Francisco" by Tony Bennett as the processional and a selection of songs by Louis Armstrong as prelude and recessional music. The organist, Shani Apland, led the congregation in the singing of the hymns, "Love Lifted Me" and "The Old Rugged Cross". The Interment Service followed in the Yorkton City Cemetery with Justin Buckle, Travis Buckle, Wade Buckle, Thomas Stachura, Blaine Buckle and Phil Revet serving as casket bearers.
