Last Wednesday evening, Turlock historian, Robert H. Brown, “Bob,” passed on to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ. We just celebrated his 95th birthday on August 11th.

Bob was a Veteran of WW2, enlisting in the U.S. Navy after Pearl Harbor. He served in the Philippine islands as a pioneer radar and radio technician. Working directly with his mentor, Mr. John Pitman, he was also responsible for the installation of Turlock High School’s first school and stadium sound system.

Bob was an active member, sound engineer, Sunday school teacher, and superintendent of Jr High SS and a scout master at Bethel Temple in Turlock for almost fifty years. For nearly forty-five years, he was the lead installation and repair technician of numerous complex systems for Pacific Bell.

Bob was a devoted husband to Phyllis Brown, father to Darlene Cowart and Robert Brown, and grandfather to David Brown, Kimberly Brown, Kelley Brown and Daniel Cowart. His great-grandchildren include, Madelyn Vezina, Cody Vezina, Alex Martinez, and Christina Torrez.

He worked tirelessly with Scott Atherton, the Turlock Historical Society, and countless others collecting photographs and writing Turlock's history.
He will be missed. We, who have trusted in Jesus for salvation from our sins, look forward to being reunited one day.

The viewing will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Sep. 14th. A Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, September 15th. Both services will be held at Turlock Funeral Home, 425 N. Soderquist Rd., Turlock.
