A.V. Bowen, age 85, of Dale Avenue in Lincolnton, died on Tuesday, September 12, 2017.

His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 16, 2017, at Pearl Baptist Church with Rev. Alan Wheeler officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 15, 2017, at Warlick Funeral Home.

Mr. Bowen was born January 5, 1932, in Cleveland County, to the late Epsie Bowen Morgan. In addition to his parents, step-father, Lonnie and Epsie Morgan, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Byrd Bowen. He served in the United States Navy (SK2), and then later retired from Carolina Freight Carriers. A.V. enjoyed woodworking and fishing at the beach.

He is survived by a son, of Lincolnton; four grandchildren, ; and five great-grandchildren.
