George C. Schoel, 65, of Pasadena, Texas, formerly of Grand Island, died Wednesday, Oct. 19, in Texas. Services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel of the Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home. Mr. Schoel was born Dec. 29, 1922, in Grand Island to Henry and Ruby Burnett Schoel. He received his education in Grand Island schools and graduated from Grand Island Senior High in 1942. He began learning the carpentry trade before going to Mills Valley, Calif. He married Elaine KALOWSKI in January of 1943. He worked in construction while residing in California and after returning to Grand Island in 1945. He worked for Ulbry-Talbert Co., returning to the San Francisco, Calif., area in 1949. There he worked as a general contractor and as a tool and die engineer. In 1974 he moved to Texas where he was maintenance supervisor for a hospital until his retirement.
Survivors include his daughter, Mrs. Vern (Penny) Stumpenhorst of Grand Island; his mother, Ruby Loop of Grand Island; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, H. Ercel Schoel of Grand Island; three sisters, Monadine Dubas and Mrs. Don (Marceline) Forst, both of Grand Island and Mrs. O'Day (Dorothy) Baker of Willspoint, Texas. He was preceded in death by one brother, Michael.
