Ben was born in Plant City, Florida to Wade Harris Williams, Sr. and Martha Merrel Cribbs. He worked for the railroad for many years before working for the Sheriff's Department. He was a cattle farmer, he also raised pigs and poultry. He was a Korean War veteran, having served in the US Army. He was well-loved by his family and will be dearly missed.

Ben was preceded in death by his infant son, Wayne Joseph Williams, his parents, and siblings Wade Harris Williams, Jr., Mary Alice Curl, Virginia Dale Green, an infant brother; and great-granddaughter Brooklyn Williams.
