Maurice Wishart Allen, 72, died at 5:57 PM, Thursday, Sept. 14, 1995, in Lafayette Home Hospital. Born Jan. 14, 1923, in Lafayette, he was a lifelong resident. His marriage was Oct. 31, 1942, at St. Louis, MO, to Mary E. Washburn; she died April 21, 1991.
Mr. Allen was a loan officer at Lafayette Bank and Trust, retiring in 1979. He and his wife co-owned the Allen Ballroom and Dance Studio. A veteran of World War II, he received the Purple Heart and five Bronze Stars, and was a member of American Legion Post 11.
Surviving are four daughters, Jane (Mrs. Gary) Onz of Fort Wayne, Loralee (Mrs. Gary) Shoaf, Kathleen (Mrs. Landi) Cordell, both of Lafayette, and Colleen (Mrs. Allen) Gradeless of Hendersonville, TN; nine grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.
