HEROINE'S FUNERAL TODAY
Servant for Whom Mrs. Bassford Died May Not Live, After All
White Plains, N.W., Jan 19. -- Mrs. Abram Bassford Jr., the pretty young niece of Supreme Court Justice Truax and a graduate of Mrs. Brown's Seminary in Manhattan, who died of the effects of burns in the White Plains Hospital after saving her seventeen-month-old baby and her servant, Marie Geiren [sic; should be Gerrn], from being burned to death in a fire in her home at Hartsdale, will be buried in the Bassford family vault in the White Plains Cemetery to-morrow afternoon. The funeral services will be conducted at 2 o'clock in Grace Episcopal Church at White Plains by Archdeacon Van Kleeck.
Although Mrs. Bassford laid down her life to save her servant from being cremated alive, it is doubtful if Marie will recover. [Marie died on January 19.]
