Jim Callum, 66, succumbed to an heroic battle with lung cancer and died Friday, July 20, at Aberdeen Health & Rehab, Aberdeen.

James Dennis Callum was born July 23, 1945 to William G. "Scotty" and Eleanore A. (Scharf) Callum at Devils Lake, ND. Jim was raised in Aberdeen and several locations in California, returning to Aberdeen in 1958. He graduated from Aberdeen Central High School with the class of 1963.

Jim married Colleen Blondo on June 3, 1963. They moved to Chicago suburbs where Jim worked for Sears. They briefly returned to Aberdeen where Jim attended NSU and worked for KO Lee, Schneurle Construction and EV Kapp. They returned to Illinois where Jim was a metalurgical chemist for Republic Steel. On October 31, 1970 the Callums returned to Aberdeen as their permanent home. Jim worked for Michael's Bar, Gage Bros. Concrete, Lien Construction and many other road construction crews until retiring in 2011.

Jim was an avid hunter and sportsman. He built his first motorcycle of which he was most proud. Last year he bought a Harley and loved to ride.

Grateful for having shared Jim's life are his wife, Colleen R. (Georgia) Callum of Atlanta, GA, and several nieces and nephews.
