Surviving are his wife of 70 years, Esperanza Fermant Arvelo(married 3/15/1948); son, Hector Arvelo; daughters, Bexaida Ecks, Miriam Berastain, Myrna Ulrich and Mary Thomas and grandchildren, Jonathan Arvelo, Jason Arvelo, Marilyn Ladewig, Christopher Thomas and Kevin Ulrich.
