COVINGTON — Fredrick R. "Fred" Shively, age 87, died Thursday, September 21, 2017 at his home in Piqua.

He was born December 31, 1929 in Bradford to the late Everett & Nora Faith (Palsgrove) Shively; a graduate of Bradford High School, Class of 1947; a Veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War; owner & operator of Shively Milk Distributors for 37 years; & later a janitor at Covington Schools for 5 years; attended Grace Methodist Church, Piqua; a member of the VFW, Post #4235, Covington; American Legion, AB Cole Post #80, Covington; AMVETS, Post #66, Covington; Western Ohio Korea, Chapter #108; 31st Infantry Regiment Association; 7th Infantry Division Association; Tri-Village Memorial Color Guard; Fred, along with Ken Williamson (deceased), organized & presented the Tell America Program & the Veteran's Day Program to many schools.

Preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Jason R. Shively; & brother, Eldon "Bump" Shively.

Fred is survived by his wife of almost 67 years, 7 children, 19 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 4 sisters, & other relatives & friends.

Graveside Service to be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Miami Memorial Park Cemetery, Covington. Military Honors presented by the Veteran's Elite Tribute Squad (V.E.T.S). Memorial Contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675. Condolences may be left for the family at www.stockerfraley.com.
