Nicholas enjoyed flying, especially piloting his Cessna 150. He enjoyed working outdoors, target shooting, reading and crossword puzzles.
At the time of his death he was survived by his wife Bonnie and two children Marina L. Gibson and Maurice L. Soares. Three children predeceased him Michael N. Stanislawski (d. March 1968), David J. Stanislawski (d. February 1977) and Andre L. Soares (d. January 1981).
According to the California Death Index his mother's maiden name was Kaperzinski.
A funeral notice appeared in "The Napa Register" on March 11, 1990.
