Private, 20th Company Unattached Massachusetts Infantry
The son of William and Betsey (Delano) Waterson.
William was 21 when he married Angeline F. Vaughan, the 17 year old daughter of Elkanah E. and Chloe (Maxim), at Fairhaven, MA on Dec. 30, 1859. They were the parents of at least two children, Charity, born in 1868, and Albert Gardner, born March 5, 1871.
William was 25 years old when he enlisted as a Private in the 20th Unattached Massachusetts Infantry on November 19, 1864. This company was assigned to the Massachusetts coastal defenses at Ft. Sewall in Marblehead until mustered out of service on June 29, 1865.
Following his military service William resided at Plymouth where he was employed as a Truckman and Teamster.
