Robert R. Bearer, 83, of Uniontown, Pa., died Sunday, March 4, 2007, in the Latrobe Area Hospital.
He was born April 4, 1923, the son of the late Ellsworth H. Bearer and Rose B. Riter Bearer.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Eleanor M. Mickey Bearer, and his son Michael E. Bearer.
Robert graduated from Uniontown High School.
He was employed at E.W. Bowman, Inc. as a plant manager.
Robert served with the United States Navy during World War II.
He was a life member of Uniontown VFW Post 47, past-commander of Fairchance American Legion Post 342, a member of the Fairchance Exchange club, and Third Presbyterian Church.
Robert was formerly the mayor of Fairchance.
Robert is survived by his three daughters, Patricia Korte and her husband David and Pamela Melchek and her husband David, and Paula J. McFadden all of Uniontown; his grandchildren, Nicole Benjamin and her husband Kendro, Rebecca Melchek, Heidi Herrero, and Adam Korte; his great-grandchildren Melatia, Valerie, and Dominick; a sister, Gertrude Exline of Elyria, Ohio; and a sister-in-law MaryAnn Bearer of Raleigh, North Carolina.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, INC., 80 Morgantown Street in Uniontown where the family will receive friends in the funeral home today, March 6, 2007, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 7, 2007, from 10 until 11 a.m., followed by a celebration of his life at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Art Mace officiating.
Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the Fairchance Exchange Club, c/o A. B. Merbedone, DDS, 5 North Morgantown St, Fairchance, PA 15446.
