GEORGE MICHAEL DEROSIA, 53, of Memphis, retired Army master sergeant, died Monday at his home of complications from multiple sclerosis. Services will be at noon Thursday at Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel with burial in West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery. He was a Baptist and a decorated Vietnam War veteran who received the Bronze Star, the Regional Merit Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal. He leaves his mother, Helen Slaughter, and a sister, Deborah Nagel, both of Memphis, and three brothers, John Joseph Derosia of Dexter, Mo., and Patrick Derosia and Floyd V. Slaughter Jr., both of Memphis. The family requests that memorials be sent to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation. (Published in The Commercial Appeal 5/23/2001)
