In January 1974, he was employed with the Illinois Bureau of Investigation (IBI). Upon graduation from the IBI Academy, he was assigned to the Illinois Race Tracks to investigate criminal activity within the racing industry.
The Illinois Bureau of Investigation was absorbed into the Illinois State Police in 1977. Bob continued to conduct investigations. His 30 year career included; Internal Investigations, Criminal Squads, Protection Details and being a personal administrative aide to various District and Regional Commanders.
He retired from the Illinois State Police, July 31, 2003 at the rank of Sergeant.
Following retirement, Bob was employed as a senior investigator and supervisor for two highly recognized licensed private investigative companies in Illinois.

Chicago man dies after tubing mishap

ST. JOSEPH — A man was found unresponsive a couple miles north of the St. Joseph North Pier Lighthouse on Sunday.
According to police, 65-year-old Robert Amenitsch was tubing in Lake Michigan when he fell into the water and did not come back up. He was pronounced dead shortly after.

Robert Frank Amenitsch, age 66 of Niles was born November 20, 1950 to the late Frank and late Lorraine Amenitsch and passed away suddenly on Sunday, September 24, 2017. He is the beloved husband of Linda (nee Malin) and loving father of Mark, Michael (Kelley McGeary), and James (Maya) Amenitsch; cherished grandfather to Dylan and Lexie; and dear brother of the late Diane (late Albert) Dabros.
Visitation: 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, October 1, 2017, Oehler Funeral Home, 2099 Miner Street, Des Plaines.
Funeral: 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 2,2017
