Doris P Whatley, 73, Overland Park, Kansas passed away Saturday, March 3, 2007 at St Luke's Hospital. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 PM, Wednesday at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee where the rosary will be said at 6:30 PM. Mass of Resurrection will be 10:00 AM, Thursday, March 5 at Cure of Ars Catholic Church; burial at St. John's Cemetery, Lenexa, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor.
Doris was born February 10, 1934 in Lenexa, Kansas to Joseph F and Josephine (Hoehn) Buckley. She served in Foreign Service in Conikary, Guinea and later in Vienna, Austria where she met and married John Whatley in 1966. She was an executive secretary at UMB Bank and a member of Cure of Ars Catholic Church.
Doris is survived by her husband, John, of the home; daughter, Melissa A Smith and her husband David of San Antonio, Texas; son, Thomas W Whatley of Overland Park; two grandchildren, Ryne Smith and Anna P Smith; two sisters, Joann McAnany and her husband Louis of Paola and Rosemary Beason and her husband Joe of Montana; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
