Raymond Henry Adkins, 87, passed away on December 19, 2016 at home. He was the husband of the late Vivian (Carr) Adkins. Raymond was born on May 30, 1929 in Great Barrington, MA to the late Ansel and Louise B. Adkins.

Raymond graduated from Housatonic Valley Regional High in 1947. He served as a PFC in the Army from 1955-1957. Raymond was the business manger and owner of Fernwood Rest Home, Inc., retiring in 2013.

He was a member of the Connecticut Association for Residential Care Homes. He loved vacationing on the coast of Maine with his wife, spending the holidays with his family and a good cigar.

He is survived by his brother Lawrence Adkins and his wife of Harwinton, CT, four children; Karyn, Brent, Kristyn and Brad along with their spouses, eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren, his sisters-in-law Carol Grech and her husband Andrew of Harwinton, CT and Sandra Carr of Canaan, CT as well as several nieces and nephews.
